Bridal Henna Care
Here’s what you need to know about your bridal henna experience before, during, and after the process. I’ve got you covered for a beautiful result!
Before Bridal Henna
Booking Bridal Henna
It is recommended to have your bridal henna applied 2 to 3 days before the wedding, as henna takes about 48 hours to fully develop its color. Additionally, scheduling your henna application before your guests arrive will help ensure a smooth process without any interruptions.
Skincare
Please ensure you complete your skincare routine and any optional waxing or shaving in the area where henna will be applied, as well as getting your nails done, before your henna appointment.
Day of Henna
Before your bridal henna application, shower and eat to stay comfortable. If you wear contact lenses, avoid them during the session, as they can be hard to remove with henna on your hands. Ensure your skin is free of lotion, oils, or moisturizers as henna works best on bare skin for a richer stain.
During the Bridal Henna
Bridal henna can take a while to finish, so ensure that you are comfortable sitting for a long period. This can be your time to relax and relieve stress from your busy wedding week. As your henna artist, I am committed to ensuring you receive the best results.
After Bridal Henna
The most important part of your bridal henna!!
Heat your hands
To achieve a dark henna stain, with the fresh henna paste on your hands, hold your hands over a pan of cloves on the stovetop. Be cautious during this step, as you are heating your hands directly over the stove. The steam from the cloves, combined with the heat, will help enhance the stain.
Moisturize
After keeping your henna paste on for at least 8 hours or overnight, you can remove it. Once you have removed the henna paste, make sure to moisturize the area where it was applied. I recommend using the balm I provide for moisturizing. A pro tip is to apply the henna balm on the day of your wedding, as it will make your henna stand out in your wedding photos.
Avoid Water
To achieve the best results with your henna, avoid washing your hands with water for at least 24 hours. The longer you can keep them dry, the better the stain will be. I provide gloves for you to wear while showering, and I highly recommend using them to protect your design.
things to not do
When washing your hands, DO NOT use soap and ONLY rinse with water. Avoid using plastic bags to cover your henna while sleeping or at any time. Plastic bags are not breathable and can cause your henna to smudge. I provide nylons for sleeping with your henna, so please use those instead.
Henna PAste
I spray lemon-sugar on your henna to have the paste stick to your skin. Leave the paste on for AT LEAST 8 hours (6 hours, if in a rush). I recommend leaving it on overnight. In the morning, you can scrape off the henna using a butter knife or the balm I provide. DO NOT USE WATER TO REMOVE THE PASTE! You may wash your hands or shower only after at least 24 hours have passed since the henna application.
Listen to your henna artist
Please do not listen to advice from anyone other than your henna artist. I have done the research and discovered the techniques that work best with henna. I will provide you with all the aftercare tools and instructions you need, to ensure your bridal henna looks its best on your wedding day.
